Tankless installation in Indianapolis
Switching from a tank to tankless is more than a swap. A gas tankless unit can burn several times as much gas as a typical 50-gallon tank, so we check your gas meter and line size, plan the venting (most high-efficiency units vent through PVC and need a condensate drain), and confirm there’s an outlet nearby.
Our standard tankless installed price is $4,499. Gas-line, venting or electrical work outside the standard scope is quoted and approved before we start. See all installed prices.
Is tankless worth it for your home?
Tankless makes the most sense if you keep running out of hot water, want the floor space back, or plan to stay long enough to benefit from the longer service life. Tankless units we install carry a 15-year manufacturer’s limited warranty.
If upfront cost matters most, a new tank heater costs less to install. Compare Indianapolis water heater replacement options.

Hard water and tankless units in Indianapolis
Citizens Energy Group’s 2025 water quality report puts average hardness in Indianapolis at about 320 ppm, roughly 19 grains per gallon, with samples from about 150 to 460 ppm depending on the treatment plant.
In a tankless unit, those minerals build up as scale on the heat exchanger, which can lead to error codes, temperature swings and shutdowns. A yearly descale keeps most units running right, and our Tankless Carefree Plan covers it for $99 a year. If you descale your own unit, ScaleShot is our citric-acid descaler. Check your unit’s maintenance instructions first.
